The Conference
Since the first meeting [July 10-12, 1977] in Wilrijk, Belgium, the symposia on Mechanisms Of VasoDilatation (MOVD) have been held around the world for over 40 years. Paul M Vanhoutte played a major role in organizing the past symposia and gathering the skilled investigators to discuss the mechanisms by which blood vessel dilate, in particular the various factors involved in the relaxation of vascular smooth muscle. During the 4th MOVD [July 10-12, 1986] held at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, Dr Robert F. Furchgott and Dr Louis J. Ignarro independently announced that EDRF (endothelium-derived relaxing factor) was nitric oxide.
The last MOVD meeting [May 20-22, 2019] took place in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, as a joint meeting with the symposia of Endothelium-Dependent Hyperpolarization (MOVD/EDH2019). To continue the long tradition in honour of Paul M Vanhoutte, the next MOVD will be held in Hong Kong, under the name MOVD2021. The organizing committee consists of the local members, Yu Wang (Chair), Susan WS Leung and Yu Huang, and the international steering members, A.H. Jan Danser, Jo G.R. De Mey and Robert Widdop.
We look forward to welcoming you all to Hong Kong in 2021
Organizing Committee
Programme
With the agreement of previous participants, from now on, MOVD will include EDH and all other mechanisms of vasodilatation. Topics of MOVD2021 include
Endothelium
Smooth muscle regulation
Cell-cell communications
Vascular Ageing
Perivascular adipose tissue
Novel vasodilators
China Gate Sponsored
As an old friend of Professor Paul M. Vanhoutte and MOVD, China Gate Scientific is honored to sponsored this symposium. We will continue to support MOVD to demonstrate our support for the study of vasodilation mechanisms and to honor Professor Paul M. Vanhoutte.
