To promote the development and research of obesity in women and children, and effectively improve the health status of women and children, the Society for Maternal and Child Health Research held the 7th Maternal and Child Obesity, Metabolic Disorders, and Endocrinology Summit on June 24-25, 2022. The conference was broadcasted live on the platforms of the Society for Maternal and Child Health Research and “People’s Good Doctor”, attracting over 700,000 viewers.
Dr. Russell Rising, a metabolic application scientific consultant at China Gate Scientific and former head of the Human Metabolic Platform at Columbia University Medical Center, delivered a highly anticipated presentation titled “Whole room indirect calorimetry: an adjunct for the treatment of obesity” during the conference.
During his presentation, Dr. Russell Rising provided a brief overview of measuring different energy metabolism using the human metabolic chamber and discussed the auxiliary treatment methods it can provide for obesity. He also compared the differences in energy metabolism measurements between metabolic carts and the human metabolic chamber. The presentation lasted approximately 35 minutes.

Dr. Russell Rising holds a Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, USA. From 2015, he was the director of the Core Metabolic Laboratory for Obesity at Columbia University/Department of Medicine in Manhattan, New York, USA. Before then, from 2010, he was Senior Research Fellow at St. Luke's Hospital Center for Obesity Research in Manhattan, New York, USA. Dr. Rising has published nearly 50 scientific papers on metabolic research.
