Recently, core members of China Gate Scientific (怡耀科学仪器), Fan Chao, Xia Feiyi, and Shaheida Nurehemaiti, were invited to Wellington, New Zealand, for technical exchanges with Resonint, a global leader in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) educational equipment. The team also completed systematic training on Resonint’s flagship product, the iLumr device. This visit marks a new phase of collaboration between the two parties in advancing the localized application of high-end medical education equipment.
Technical Training: Mastering Core Skills, Empowering the Future
The two-day training focused on hands-on operation of the iLumr device and analysis of its market potential. On the first day, Resonint’s Managing Director, Kerry Dykstra, personally welcomed the delegation and delivered a detailed technical presentation on the device’s core functionalities. These included sample imaging, frequency calibration, probe tuning, parameter optimization, and T1/T2 imaging comparisons. Through live demonstrations and real-time operations, the China Gate Scientific team gained in-depth knowledge of the iLumr’s hardware-software integration, particularly its unique Jupyter Notebook functionality, which offers highly flexible customization for university teaching and research.
The following day, under the guidance of Resonint’s technical experts, the team conducted practical exercises using plant samples such as chili peppers and green beans, successfully obtaining high-resolution MRI images. This further validated the device’s efficiency and user-friendliness in educational settings. Kerry remarked, “iLumr was designed to lower the barriers to teaching MRI technology. Through our partnership with China Gate Scientific, we aim to extend its advantages to China’s vast educational market.”
Market Insights: Precision Positioning, Uncovering Demand
During the training, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on the characteristics of the Chinese market. The China Gate Scientific team emphasized the urgent demand from Chinese universities and research institutions for lightweight, cost-effective MRI teaching equipment. For instance, professors at Shenzhen Technology University,ShanghaiTech Universiy and Nanjing Medical University have highly endorsed iLumr’s practicality, noting its significant advantages over traditional equipment in terms of weight and operational complexity. Additionally, iLumr’s capability to allow up to five students to operate simultaneously creates potential for bulk purchases, with target clients including medical technology universities and biomedical research institutions.
Strategic Roadmap: Technical Mastery and Localization
Building on the training outcomes, China Gate Scientific has outlined the following action plans:
1. Deepen Technical Expertise: Establish a dedicated team to study MRI principles and iLumr’s technical details, ensuring professional customer support.
2. Tailored Marketing: Develop customized promotion strategies for universities and research institutions, highlighting the device’s value in teaching efficiency and scientific innovation.
3. Localization Initiatives: Create Chinese-language user manuals and promotional materials, while expanding brand influence through industry exhibitions and academic conferences.
Fan Chao, Sales Director of China Gate Scientific, stated, “This training has not only enhanced our comprehensive understanding of iLumr technology but also solidified our confidence in its deployment in China. Moving forward, we will work closely with Resonint to drive the modernization of China’s medical education infrastructure.”
